We are delighted to be able to offer something different, special and, in our opinion, much needed in the world of web design and web services, particularly to small businesses, groups and individuals on the Wirral.
Despite the fact that women are still in the minority when it comes to business startups and ownership/management, there has been an increase in the number of female entrepreneurs over recent years, and the North West (including Merseyside, Cheshire and the Wirral) is currently enjoying a surge of women owned and run start-ups, partly because of the wealth of support available locally to encourage women into business.
It will come as no surprise to you to learn that women are under-represented in the world of Information Technology and this includes webdesign and related services. SitePlus Web Services is a local female-owned and operated business, based on the Wirral.
As a small business owned and operated by a woman, we are able to offer services often perceived as very male-dominated and technical, with a feminine perspective where necessary. A recent study from the Glamorgan University Business School in Wales revealed that men and women show a preference for websites produced by people of their own sex.
" A separate study examined websites from the beauty industry, which clearly address female target groups. However, most of the web designs to be found in this industry, too, were modelled on the male aesthetic. Surprisingly, 78 per cent of the actually female orientated websites in this industry were designed and drawn up by men. "
